Press Release for March 24, 2012

The Dogwood Jamboree will present “A Country Cavalcade” on Saturday night March 24th at 7 P.M. “The Dogwood Jamboree was first conceived some eight  years ago and from that first performance back in 2005 each show has just gotten better,” stated Dan Manuel, producer of the show. “We celebrate our fortieth anniversary with the Crockett Rd. Church of Christ this same weekend, and I celebrate my 65th birthday the night of the show.”.

The venue in March that takes place during the first weekend of the Annual Dogwood Trails, will feature “Shake Rattle and Roll”, “The Bishop Sisters” and others who will be performing that night.         Three  young  artists  will compete for “Dogwood Jamboree Talent Search Artist of the Year.”  “For a long time we have wanted to give the young people of the area an opportunity to perform and in some way help them to advance their music ambitions. A number of  young people auditioned for the show recently and the judges selected those with the highest score to perform on the March show. The winner on March 24th  will advance to the finals in December and compete for the title “Artist of The Year”.  We have had others who have performed on the stage of the Jamboree  advance to bigger venues.  Auditions for the June show ” will be held in mid-May  and auditions for the August  Jamboree will be held in mid-July. Those wishing to audition can call 903-729-5611 or 903-729-7080.  Those auditioning for the talent search contest must be eighteen years or younger.

The show promises to be a memorable event and one that will attract a lot of folks. The theme for the show in  June is “Lone Star Country”..   “It is amazing how many people come from the metro-plex area , Houston and other parts of the state for the Jamboree.  “Many people travel to Branson, Mo. or Nashville, Tennessee for similar productions, and  from the reviews we have received in numerous country music publications, the quality of the Jamboree and the performers are equal in many respects,” according to Manuel.  “We want to encourage those who  have never attended one of the shows,  to make a point to bring the family out and enjoy the music, artists and comedy that fills the civic center during the evening performance and vote for your  favorite artist  in the talent search  contest.”  Those competing on the show that night will be selected by a panel of judges and audience vote.  Local artists will take the stage with those from other cities all over the state of Texas.  The show is sponsored by local businesses and is designed as “family entertainment”.  Children often appear on the show as well as adults of varying ages.  “Many of the people who attend are previous attendees.  They love the show and return and bring friends with them,” stated Manuel.  Others performing on the show are, Kimmy Hendricks (Jamboree Artist Of the Year for 2011), George Lester, Joe Hancock , Shelia and Rick Wheat, ,  Sandy Singleterry and Dan Manuel.  “This is sure to be one of the best performances of the Jamboree and we encourage Palestine and the surrounding area to join us along with visitors for various cities and states as we begin our seventh year of production.   “I’ve always said, if you ever attend one performance, you will want to come back as you listen to the songs that classic country music fans have listened to through the years,” Manuel said.  The show starts at 7 P.M. and doors open at 6 P.M.  At the intermission door prizes donated by local merchants and businesses will be given away.

The DOGWOOD JAMBOREE is a Branson style Country Music Show filled with family fun, laughter and great classic country music from some of the best artists anywhere.  You will be thrilled as you recall some of the golden hits in country music being performed live on stage.  Our comedians always provide great comic relief.  Those who often attend the show on tour buses from all over the country say it is one of the best country music shows they have experienced and that it equals performances in Branson, MO.  These folk often make return visits to our city as we provide a "New Show" each time.  Bring your "youngest of the young and the oldest of the old and they will never be embarrassed."  Make plans to be with us for our next performance.

Sincerely,

Dan Manuel
