Christmas is in the air and the Palestine Civic Center is the place to be  Saturday night December 10^th  for some of the finest classic country music in East Texas. The Annual Christmas show is called “ Christmas In The Pines”  “There are a number of talented entertainers all over Texas who will join the Jamboree band for a Classic country music  performance.  The  Saturday venue will begin at 7 P.M.  Advanced tickets can be purchased through Friday Dec. 9^th  at 5 P.M. after that time the tickets must be purchased at the door.   “We are so excited about this show because  Christmas time is always special.  We know that there are other  things taking place in Palestine the night of the show.   The show this year will see a return of “Harmony One” singing songs by the Platters and Temptations.   This group of guys were on the show three years  ago and were such a hit, that we decided to bring them back again for the Christmas Show.”  said Dan Manuel producer of the show.  This group who tour the country will thrill the audience once again as they take them back to the fifties and sixties era.  They have performed all over the United States and   have performed with a  number of well known artists. Joining  “Harmony One” will be Chloe Collins, Lori Young , and Dan Manuel all from Palestine.  Sissy Perry from Corsicana will perform that night as well  George Lester from Elkhart.   The Dogwood Jamboree Band features  Billy Lane on drums, W.J. Copeland on Steel guitar, Rick Wheat bass guitar, Shelia Wheat, on the fiddle,  Hal Roper on rhythm guitar and Bobby Perry on lead guitarist, Mike Kellogg on the saxophone, Dickie  Lee Taylor on keyboard. The Dogwood Singers,  (backup group) will join the band in providing a wonderful evening of entertainment”. Manuel said. Another highlight of the evening will be the naming of “Dogwood Jamboree Talent Search Artist of the Year”.  Four finalists will vie for the award. “Through the year 2011, we have had some wonderful young people on the show.  They have all done a wonderful job.  One artist was chosen by audience participation and by  a panel of judges at each performance of the Jamboree beginning in March.  Cassandra Duggan from Elkhart, Mallory Fuller from Fairfield, Texas ; Kimmy Hendricks from Gilmer, Texas and Taylor Parks from Corsicana, Texas. will all compete for the title that night.  “These young people are tremendously talented  and will thrill the audience with their performances” according to Manuel.  “We are so grateful for the support and encouragement of our sponsors and the many who attend the performances of the Jamboree”. The Jamboree will begin its eighth year in March of 2012 during the Dogwood Trails event.  “We are happy to  bring the many people  who regularly attend the performances of the Jamboree to Palestine.
